Garage 66, formerly known as MBM Motorsports, will compete in the NASCAR Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway next weekend, marking their sixth start of the year. The team, although non-charted, has utilized various drivers like Josh Bilicki, Chad Finchum, and Casey Mears. Their top performance this year was at the Coca-Cola 600, where Bilicki finished 33rd out of 40 cars.
In a surprising twist at Atlanta, David Starr will take the wheel of the No. 66 Ford in the Cup Series. Starr, a 57-year-old veteran, boasts 18 Cup starts and will add to his 268 Xfinity Series and 317 Truck Series appearances. With four Trucks wins and a top-four championship finish in 2006, Starr is a seasoned competitor.
While Starr has only had one Cup start at Atlanta, it was on a different configuration in 2011. His best Cup result in 2021 was a 23rd place at Texas. Starr expressed enthusiasm, stating, “EchoPark Speedway is one of the most exciting tracks on the schedule, and I’m thrilled to compete here with such an incredible group of partners.” The No. 66 team will be supported by sponsors including WNB Factory Wings N Burgers, Roofing Georgia/NGE Decks, Coble Enterprises, and Carter’s Royal Dispos-all.
